Foxtrot

The Foxtrot is many people's favourite with its graceful rise and falls, sways, turns and spins. It has quite a variety of steps and can be danced to a wide range of music, making it very popular in most social dances.

Foxtrot :: Sample Video

Foxtrot started in vaudeville when the actor Harry Fox incorporated a funny walk into his music act, and it became known as "Fox's Trot". It quickly became very popular, due to its graceful progression along the dancefloor.

The two main styles found in social dances are:

  • The Slow Foxtrot
  • Rythm Foxtrot

The foxtrot is danced in a comfortable 'walking' style and what makes it look graceful is keeping the size and pace of the strides consistent.
